Instructions:
Preparing
the Canvas
Using the
sponge wet with water and squeeze out, then gently wash over the canvas. If
too wet dry with paper towel.
Using the
same sponge, squeeze it dry and apply drops of green ink 3 colours and drops
of blender.
Holding
the canvas from underneath dab the inked sponge onto the sides of the
canvas.
Try not
to dab too hard or you will use up too much ink too quickly and your canvas
will be dark in colour and then you would not be able to see stamped images
etc. on the canvas. If the colour starts to run out then simply add a few
more drops of coloured ink. Do not be tempted to go over what you have
already coloured… please leave until it has dried a little while as when
alcohol ink dries it changes colour. If your colours are too dark, then try
to add some blending solution to the canvas to lighten in very small drops.
When you are happy with your canvas, set it aside to dry.
You need
to leave some white, as this will help with lifting the elements from your
canvas.
Ink up
three dominos, and gently dab all around the sides and leave to dry for a
little then dab the ink onto the blank side of the domino. Again, try not
to be tempted to go over the colour again and leave to one side to dry.
Cut a
piece of tissue paper wide enough to cover edges and top of canvas. Stamp
two of the small corset onto the tissue paper 8 times. When stamping do this
lightly as the ink will bleed otherwise. Leave to one side to dry.
Stamp one
of the larger corset images on another piece of tissue paper and leave to
dry.
Stamp
Passion or similar word onto tissue paper and leave to dry.
While
images are drying, cut a piece of lace to fit across the canvas and down the
edges.
Glue in
place about 1/3rd from bottom of canvas.
Then cut
a piece of musical twill and glue at right angles to the lace about 1/3rd
from the side of the canvas.
Now take
the line of corsets on your tissue paper and very carefully tear around the
edges taking care to leave a gap as you tear around the heads or you will
tear them off! Glue on the reverse side of the tissues paper and stick to
the bottom of the canvas overlapping on the edge and press firmly into
place.
Glue the
Larger corset to the left of the twill and above the lace. Glue the word
passion to the right of the larger corset and in the corner of the lace and
twill.
Using one
of the small corset women stamp, ink up the stamp and place it face up on
your work surface. Take the domino and have the dots looking at you.
Carefully and firmly press the blank side of the domino onto the stamp,
applying a little pressure to the domino. Then holding it at the top with
your forefinger and at the bottom with your thumb lift it slowly and
carefully from the stamp. Put to one side to dry.
Repeat
with another corset and the word Beauty.
Using two
of the word stamps ink carefully around the bottom edge sides of the canvas
.
Take 2
tags and ink with alcohol ink of your choice. Try contrasting colours.
Lightly ink the string too.
Ink the
buttons in contrasting colours. Set aside to dry.
Cut out
or tear 2 of the adverts Glue at an angle on the coloured ink side of the
tag. Fold over rest of advert to back or trim off edges. Glue a button to
one of the tags, and a piece of ric-rac on the other.
Stamp a
word stamp in black at the bottom of the tag. Set Aside.
Cut out
the final advert, trimming around the head of the “Pears” woman, and glue to
bottom left hand corner.
Cut out
the word CORSET from the alphabet sheet, and the words IS IN THE EYE OF THE
BEHOLDER. Lightly ink with the same colour as the background.
Glue the
word CORSET in between the row of corsets at the bottom, and the IS IN THE
EYE OF THE BEHOLDER at the top of the canvas. Place the BEAUTY domino to
the left of the words, and glue the remaining dominoes and tags in place.
Finally
glue the 7 coloured buttons along the lace.
