Instructions:
Sand all sides and top
of the canvas with the sandpaper. This will make the canvas feel smoother.
(For a rougher texture just rub harder but take care not to make a hole in
the canvas.) Push the sponge onto the peg, dip in water, and squeeze out
excess. Rub the sponge over the canvas taking care not to water it too much
or this will take longer for your canvas to dry. If there is excess water
then use a piece of kitchen roll to mop up the water. Your canvas should now
feel damp to the touch. Using the same piece of damp sponge squirt a couple
of drops of each colour of orange, red and yellow alcohol ink or colours to
your preference. If you use too dark colours, the stamping will not show.
Holding the canvas from underneath dab the inked sponge onto the sides of
the canvas. Try not to dab too hard or you will use up too much ink too
quickly and your canvas will be dark in colour and then you would not be
able to see stamped images etc. on the canvas. If the colour starts to run
out then simply add a few more drops of coloured ink.
Do not be tempted to go
over what you have already coloured… please leave until it has dried a
little while as when alcohol ink dries it changes colour.
If your colours are too
dark then try and add some blending solution to the canvas to lighten in
very small drops. When you are happy with your canvas, set it aside to
dry. You need to leave some white, as this will help with lifting the
elements from your canvas. Using acrylic block use the ‘cycling knickers’
stamp and stamp this image onto the tissue paper in a column of three
downwards. Stamp a single image Therefore, in all you have used this stamp 4
times. After using your stamp, please wipe off excess ink.
Stamp a bicycle wheel on
tissue paper with black ink, and match a scond one to look like a whole
wheel. Leave aside to dry.
By this time, your
canvas should be ready to work on. If not then try blotting the canvas with
kitchen paper.
Now using the ‘wheel’
stamp stand the canvas on its side and use the stamp once in the middle and
then one on either side. Repeat this on all four sides.
Then cut a piece of
twill (enough to fit one side). Use the sponge with the ink (re-ink or
re-activate with a little water) on and rub over the twill to distress it
then using a piece of kitchen paper dab onto the ink pad and gently rub this
on the twill. Put this to one side.
Now get three separated
beige tickets and apply glue to the blank sides of all three. Place one
ticket in the centre at an angle and cut off access. Then repeat with the
remaining tickets on either side.
Apply the following
tickets on the opposite side of the canvas to the above.
Now get four blue
tickets and apply glue to the blank sides of all four in a strip. Place one
ticket at either side and then the remaining two at a diagonal in the
centre.
Apply the glue to the
plain side of the twill and adhere it to the other side of the canvas.
Take the single stamped
image of ‘cycling knickers’ on tissue paper and tear around the edges (this
does not have to be neat). Apply glue on the reverse side making sure you
get glue in the corners and edges as well as the centre. Apply this to the
canvas on the remaining side in the centre on a diagonal and smooth onto the
canvas with a piece of kitchen paper. Taking care to be gentle and not tear
the tissue paper.
Now take the column of
three ‘cycling knickers’ and tear around the edge. Then apply glue to the
reverse side and apply to the right hand side of the canvas smoothing it
down with kitchen paper again. Using the ‘out and about’ stamp, stamp this
onto each edge in the centre.
Using the word ‘travel’
stamp start with the sides and stamp along the top side edge going all the
way around the canvas and repeat along the bottom around the sides… again
all around the canvas. Then at each corner stamp ‘travel’. Now let the
canvas lay flat and start to work more on the top whilst the sides dry.
Then stamp around the edges on the top of the canvas.
Taking a ticket stamp
ink and stamp randomly on front of canvas.
Then take the stamped
bicycle wheel, and glue to left hand top corner of front of canvas. Glue a
ticket to bottom left hand corner.
Use a sticker and put
over bicycle wheel. Allow glue to dry thoroughly.
